When using an outlet branch-circuit-type AFCI with a supplemental arc protection circuit breaker, the maximum wiring length from the overcurrent device to the first outlet is 50 feet for 14 AWG; standard AFCI protection does not carry this length restriction.
The continuity of a grounded conductor shall not depend on connection to a metal enclosure, raceway, or cable armor; these are separate systems and cannot substitute for proper grounded conductor continuity.
